Your solution for a whiter and brighter smile
Tooth whitening has become one of the most popular ways to improve your smile by lightening the existing shade of your natural teeth to a whiter and brighter colour. Teeth whitening is a simple and effective treatment which can be carried out by our team here at Sherwood Dental or from the comfort of your own home. This treatment is extremely safe and does not involve drilling or the removal of the tooth’s surface, depending on your needs we can provide you with an at home or an in-chair whitening treatments.
There are many reasons why your teeth can become discoloured
Time is a common contributor to the discolouration of teeth and after years of wear and tear your teeth may become stained. The most common contributors include:
- Drinking tea, coffee or wine
- Coloured food like berries
- Damaged teeth
- Specific medications
Tooth whitening gel is a peroxide based compound which is designed to penetrate the holes in your enamel and remove the stains which effectively lightens the teeth. We will first arrange for you to have a consultation appointment, where your teeth and gums will be examined, during this consultation we will discuss which of the tooth whitening options would be best for your needs.
Our team at Sherwood Dental can provide our patients with an at home whitening kit which contains custom made whitening trays and a peroxide based gel. This way patients visiting from Indooroopilly, Graceville, Chelmer and Oxley also have the luxury of taking their whitening treatment home. While the home whitening can take up to 14 days to achieve your desired shade the comfort of applying your treatment from your own home is often desirable for patients who are too busy to attend a 1-2 hour appointment.
During your teeth whitening consultation we will take an impression (mould) of your teeth using special dental “putty”. The putty will then be placed into an impression tray and both inserted into your mouth and pushed onto your teeth in order to take an impression. The moulds will then be sent to a dental laboratory where a technician can fabricate your custom made whitening trays for you take home with you.
