White Fillings

Are you looking for a Southwest Brisbane dentist to provide seamless white fillings to treat tooth decay?

Dr Craig Duval at Sherwood Dental has you covered.

Fillings are widely considered to be the most common type of ‘restorative treatment’ here at Sherwood Dental in Southwest Brisbane. We provide this effective restorative treatment for our patients in Sherwood, Indooroopilly, Chelmer, Rocklea, Oxley and West Brisbane.

A filling is used to replace the part of the tooth that has been lost because decay has caused a cavity in the tooth or in some instances because the tooth has broken or experienced trauma. One option when restoring the damaged tooth is to receive a white filling, commonly known as a ‘composite filling’.

Many people have received fillings at one point in their life, the majority of which being a silver metal filling called an ‘amalgam’ filling. In most instances fillings do not just have to be practical, they can also be potentially aesthetically pleasing and thus many patients wish to avoid amalgam fillings because they can be very visually noticeable. Dr Craig Duval provides white composite fillings which completely blend into your smile, unlike amalgam fillings. At Sherwood Dental we are committed to staying up-to-date with the latest dental technology, so you can rest assured that you are receiving the very best in dental care when receiving white fillings out our Southwest Brisbane practice.

Composite fillings

Composite fillings are often referred to as white fillings. Composite is a tooth coloured material which is composed of miniscule glass particles suspended in a resin matrix. The composite material is available in several shades in order to perfectly match your tooth and blend into your smile. Dr Craig Duval will spend time examining your teeth to ensure your restoration matchesthe exact shade of your teeth.

Composite fillings are bonded directly to the damaged tooth in order to support the remaining tooth structure and fill the gap left behind by removed tooth decay. Composite fillings can be used for a variety of restorative and even cosmetic dental procedures, including:

  • Restoring broken or chipped teeth
  • Reshaping any misshapen teeth
  • Closing any gaps between in your teeth (diastemas)
  • Receiving your filling

When receiving a composite filling Dr Craig Duval and our dental professionals will initially examine your teeth in order to identify the presence of any tooth decay. If we detect tooth decay Dr Craig Duval will assess the damage in order to identify if a tooth coloured filling would be the most suitable treatment for you. Dr Craig Duval at our Southwest Brisbane practice will then administer a local anaesthesia and begin to remove the decay. It is essential that this step is performed carefully by a highly skilled dentist such as Dr Craig Duval as if any decay is missed it can further infect the tooth beneath your new filling.

Once we have removed the decay we can then fill the empty space left behind with the composite filling material here at our Sherwood dental practice. Dr Craig Duval will ensure that you are comfortable with your new filling ad that it blends seamlessly into your smile.
