Achieve and maintain a healthy smile
The best way to maintain good oral hygiene is to brush and floss your teeth twice daily and to visit your dentist regularly, normally once every 6 months. Our dental professionals at Sherwood dental practice treat patients from Sherwood, Indooroopilly, Graceville, Chelmer and Oxley, and the surrounding areas, in order to help a wide range of people achieve a healthy, beautiful smile.
During your check-up we will examine your teeth for signs of decay or damage, and look for early signs of gum disease and oral cancer. We recommend that you visit our Sherwood dental office twice a year, although patients suffering from severe gum disease or a weakened immune system may need to visit our dental office more often.
During your general check-up
We will first asses your teeth, discuss whether there have been any problems since your last dental check-up and discuss any new medication that you may be taking. Our general check-up appointments consist of:
- Assessment for signs of decay or infection
- Evaluate your existing dental restorations
- Gum assessment
- Your tongue, throat, cheeks & lips will be checked for and signs of oral cancer
- An assessment of your jaw joint to detect any irregular movement
- You may require an x-ray to ensure we have updated images of your mouth
If cavities are found or your oral hygiene needs to be improved, we will develop a treatment plan outlining the work to be carried out; you will then need to make an appointment for the necessary treatment.
To keep your smile healthy you may be required to visit for a follow-up treatment, our general dental treatments include:
Wisdom Tooth Extraction
Dr Craig Duval performs wisdom tooth extractions with pin-point accuracy and gentle care.
Sherwood Dental provides fluoride treatments to help prevent tooth decay and infection.
During your general check-up appointment at our Sherwood practice our Sherwood Dental professionals can identify if these treatments are necessary.
